Values: Intersectional. Inclusive. Intergenerational. Empowering.
Our Focus: Economic Security, Education, Advocacy.
In principle and practice, AAUW values and seeks a diverse membership. There shall be no barriers to full participation in this organization on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or class.
ACTION! One of our most powerful tools is our Lobby Corps.
Recently a virtual program was produced for our Legacy members – “Legacy and Impact: Celebrating Lobby Corps.” Here are some highlights:
- Our CEO, Gloria Blackwell, kicked off the event by expressing her gratitude to all attendees, emphasizing the significant impact of our collective efforts, and highlighting the critical role of the AAUW’s Policy and Advocacy work and Lobby Corps.
- Jessica Miller, our Archivist, provided a captivating presentation on the rich history of our Lobby Corps, shedding light on its significant impact on advancing the AAUW’s mission. She also recognized the unwavering dedication of Lobby Corps members and the important role of Champions and Legacy Circle Members in helping to further their work.
- Meghan Kissel, Senior Director of Policy and Member Advocacy, moderated a lively panel discussion featuring three Lobby Corps members: Becky Gaul, Stephanie Abbott, and Sandy Lawrence (who is also a Legacy Circle member). They shared their motivations for joining Lobby Corps, their experiences on Capitol Hill, and their favorite moments as Lobby Corps members.
- Meghan tied Lobby Corps’ work back to all advocacy efforts at AAUW, inspiring attendees to become more engaged in advocacy work and emphasizing the power of collective action.
